Beautiful Tips to Give a Manicure

Most people cut the nails back and forth using an emery board and deeply cut the nail from the left and right corner. So the nails are most likely to get split and worn out. Use the board from the left to the center by sawing back and forth a few times. Then move it from the center to the right a few times. To get the right texture and a smooth layer on the nail use a metal file.

Trim fingernails and shape with a nail file, for these metal nail files or emery boards are generally used, but professional manicurists usually use fine glass files. To file properly, its’ necessary to start with the file at the outer edge of the nail, and move towards the center. Nail filing should not be done in a saw-like motion.
In a rotating motion use your thumb to massage cuticle cream into the rough skin at the sides and base of the nails. Soak your nails in warm water for a few minutes to soften the cuticle. Clean your nails thoroughly using a nailbrush. Wrap the end of the orangewood stick in cotton and apply cuticle remover to the blunt end. Use it to loosen dead skin from around the nails.

Apply petroleum jelly or any other moisturizing lotion on hands. Cover with gloves and leave on for about 5 minutes. Paint nails. Make sure to apply at least to coats of nail polish and a top coat of clear nail polish to give it more shine. Give it enough time to dry.

If your timing is perfect, you will be finished cutting the cuticles on that hand before the first hand gets wrinkled from being in the warm water too long. (Tip: Don’t try to hurry the cuticle trimming process to make your timing work. Instead try to remember to check on the soaking hand half-way through the course of cutting cuticles. If the water is cold or the hand shows hints of wrinkling skin, that’s your cue to stop the soaking operation and pat hand dry with hand towel, apply some lotion and go back to the trimming procedure.)

The cuticle acts as a seal between the finger and the nail. Gently exfoliating the dry, rough, cuticle skin layers by actually sloughing off the dead outer layers exposes new and vibrant skin. This new healthy skin protects the nails matrix which is the growth center of the nail and should be treated with care.

Spread over hand cream to your nails and wipe them in. Let it there for three to four minutes. Wipe down nails using a tissue to eliminate surplus. Apply an even and thin clear base coat. Place a tip guide unto your nails. This will wrap your nail’s lower portion. Then follow the curvature of your nail tip’s white color. Put on white or neutral polish to the uncovered tips of the nails and dry. The portion that will be painted white must be kept thin. Going too broadly on the white paints will make your fingernails appear stocky.

Having A Home Manicure Or Pedicure

When you need to do manicure or pedicure at home, it is very important to have knowledge of it in general, and the requirements in particular. If you feel the need of a system of manicure / pedicure and wandering, then the following mentioned system would be of great help to you. So for creating a perfect manicure / pedicure system at home, you will need the followings:
* 1 pack of cotton balls
* 1 polish remover
* 1 emery board
* 1 nail trimmer
* 1 cuticle remover
* 1 bottle fingernail polish
* 2 toe separators

Nail polish removing:

Take cotton balls as many as you need them, soak each finger well with nail polish remover, so that your fingernails true color start appearing. Do not cut too short toenails, because doing so increase the chances of developing ingrown toenails.

Filling Nails:

Use emery board to make your fingernails smooth and good looking. You can use emery board to smoothen the ends of your fingernails. Do not use emery board to scrap your natural nail surface at all. This will make the nails surface rough.

Exfoliating & Moisturizing Hands and Feet:

Now use sugar wash to massage your feet, legs, arms and feet.  Rinse your hands first and then use pumice stone to rub away callus and other rough surfaces on the bottom of your feet. Now, rinse the scrub of your feet and legs.  Now, use moisturizer or some other soothing cream for your hands and feet that may heal a cracked and roughdry skin.

Polishing Nails:

Remove excess moisturizer using polish remover. Polish your nails and dry them between coats, preferably minimum of four coats. If you have weak or brittle nails, place one or two coats of ridge filling nail polish on the nail as base coat to shore up the nail. Two coats of a colored nail polish are next, followed by a topcoat to add luster. Use foam toe separators to fingers, while polishing. Allow drying the polish.

File and shape the nails. File from one side of nail to center, then other side to center. Do not file back and forth-this can cause splitting and weak nails. Remember never file nails that are wet or damp. Nails absorb water, and if they are filed while wet, splitting, breakage and weak nails can occur.

Apply a base coat. Allow it to dry.

Apply polish. Clean any stray marks with a cotton swab dipped in polish remover.

Add a second coat for deeper color.

Finish the manicure with a top coat of clear polish.

• 3 way buffer – for buff, shine and finishing your manicure. Especially for nails which are uneven the white, black and grey of the buffer are perfect to get the shine back on your nails.

• Soaking dish – to soak your client’s fingers in between the manicure process.

The manicure process itself is simple if you follow these basic steps below:

1. Begin by clearly asking the client what they need and the look they hope to achieve. This will keep you focused during the manicure process on the end result.

2. Inspect the client’s nails thoroughly before the process and point out any flaws that you may notice with suggestions on how you will fix them.

3. You can now begin the manicure by firstly removing any enamel that may be present on the nails. Use a cotton pad dipped in remover and work from bottom to free edge. Change cotton pad often if the enamel is tough to come off especially for dark colors.

4. File the nail to its desired length with a 240 grit file. Begin from the outer corner to the centre of the nail. Don’t see saw the file in a haphazard manner. This will weaken the nails and result in poor filing results. Also follow the thumb rule of filing the free edge in the same shape as your cuticle. For example a square cuticle should have a square free edge.

5. Next use a 3 way buffer to perfectly finish the look of the nails. Clear out any uneven surfaces, ridges for a shiny smooth finish. The black of the buffer is used for shine, the gray for finishing and the white for the semi shine. So your order should be black, white and gray.

6. Now it is time to soak the nails in the nail cleaning solution. Apply some cuticle oil, lubricant before soaking. This will soften the cuticles and will easily allow you to push the excess cuticle away. You can use hot oil if your client has very dry nails.

7. The nails are now soft enough for treatment. Push back excess cuticle on the nail plate taking care not to disturb the seal between the proximal fold and the nail plate. Do not use excessive force.

8. Use a cuticle clipper to remove excess skin which did not come off with the cuticle pusher. Be careful taking care only to cut away the dead skin. Also use the orangewood stick to clean below the nails.

9. Your nails are now ready for enhancement treatments. But should you wish to exfoliate the hands and nails, apply exfoliating cream and gently massage on hands. Wipe off with a clean towel. Follow with the application of a moisturizer or a paraffin wax treatment for very dry hands.

10. The paraffin wax treatment is basically used for deeper penetration of oils into very dry hands making them softer and smoother. These waxes come infused with essential and relaxing aroma oils. Fruit waxes are also popular. The hand is dipped in paraffin wax not heated above 35 degrees. It is then allowed to dry and then dipped 2-3 times more each time allowing the wax to dry in between. The hands are then sealed in a plastic bag or gloves. On cooling, the wax is removed and discarded.

11. Thoroughly wipe off any lotion which maybe present on the nails before you begin the application of polish.

12. Begin with the base coat. This is important as the base coat has bonding materials which adhere to the nails and strengthen them. The enamel coat is next. It can be transparent or the color of your choice. Apply very thin coats and allow drying in between 2-3 coats, depending on the intensity of the color you seek. Begin by applying from the centre of the nail plate towards the free edge. Do the sides next. Improper application may result in air bubbles, cracking and peeling of the polish.

13. Finish the manicure with the application of the top coat. Use a dryer to dry the paint and get even results.

This process should adequately complete your manicure and give your client’s hands and nails a brilliant clean look.
