Walt Disney?S Beauty And The Beast ? Things That Made Me Wonder

Beauty And The Beast (1991) is one of the most popular animated features. It was the first full length animated feature to ever be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. In 1997, Disney release midquel-sequel Beauty And The Beast: Enchanted Christmas which was a direct to video film.

I first watched Beauty And The Beast when I was six and, back then, all I cared about were the pretty pictures and the beautiful songs. I watched Beauty And The Beast followed by the Enchanted Christmas a few days ago and noticed a couple of things which made me wonder.

- What’s the distant between the village and the castle? When Belle’s father finds refuge in the castle it seems far. When Belle goes after him, she leaves in what seems like morning or noon and arrives at night. But when Gaston goes to the castle to kill the Beast and Belle runs after him to stop him, it looks close. Or is there a shortcut they forgot to tell us about?

- Fine, the distant between the castle and the village isn’t clear, but you’d expect that people would have heard a myth about an enchanted castle where the master was turned into a Beast and the other habitant into household items.

- The narrator said that the Beast was a Prince. So he’s supposed to have sovereignty over people and land, in other words, a kingdom. But they are no mention of it. Didn’t they miss their royalty? His servants refer to him as Master. He is called “Your Majesty” only once in Enchanted Christmas. Could it be that he wasn’t an actual Prince but a wealthy Lord?

- In Enchanted Christmas, who are the people going to the Christmas party? Villagers, people from the kingdom? Guests from far lands?

- In Enchanted Christmas, we are shown that the “Prince” was turned into the Beast on Christmas and at the Christmas party, Belle was wearing a yellow dress. In the original movie, the narrator tells us that the spell had to be broken before his 21st birthday, that’s when the last petal of rose will falls. While preparing the diner date, Cogsworth, Lumiere and Mrs. Pot said that it was their last day to try and have the spell broken and at the date, Belle is wearing the same yellow dress as in the Christmas party. Does it mean that the master was born the day after Christmas?

- Didn’t Mrs. Pot notice that Chip was missing or was she distracted by the castle assailants or couldn’t tell because all the cups looked alike?

-     While Lumiere and the dishes were singing and dancing Be Our Guest, did Belle actually eat? They only show her tasting some pastry and drink a cup of tea. Yet again, that’s probable all a size -12 needs.

- After Beast saved Belle from the Beast then collapsed, how did she manage to put him on Phillip, her horse? She doesn’t look like wonder woman to me.

- Wouldn’t you say that Mrs. Pot looks more like Chip’s grandmother than mother? Did she adopt him? Did she give birth at an advanced age? The later will lead us to wonder about a Mr. Pot.

- When going to invade the castle, did Gaston or any of the man who followed him knew or suspected that the Beast used to be human?

- Why didn’t the armors fight when the castle was under attack? They looked like the most suitable people to handle the situation or were they stuck to their pedestals?

- Why didn’t Beast ever asked the magic mirror to show him who will break the spell? Or it only showed people who were in the castle.

- Did anyone notice that Belle shares some traits with Cinderella? Yet again, most Disney Characters look alike: Prince Eric (The Little Mermaid) like Aladdin, Jafar like Scar, Yzma (The Emperor’s New Groove) like Cruella Devil. The Castles too.

Luckily, the movie was target to a young audience and they ask fewer questions, sometimes. Anyway, I still love and enjoy Beauty And The Beast very much and believe that it deserves every single nominations, awards and honors it received.

Beauty And The Beast (DVD) Review

Nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Beauty And The Beast is one of Disney’s greatest animated achievements. Its massive success reinvigorated the Disney animation juggernaut which had been dormant for decades, launching the release of smashing blockbusters such as Aladdin, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo. Taking home two Oscars for Best Music (Original Score and Original Song), the film launched a trend in Disney animation by blending musical numbers (with cartoon choreography), an aspect that would become a staple of film after film for the remainder of the decade. In short, Beauty And The Beast is a landmark production just as remarkable today as when it was first released…

Following the Disney tradition of transposing well-known fairy tales from the pages of a book to the sparkle of the big screen, Beauty And The Beast follows the life of Belle (Paige O’Hara), a beautiful bookworm maiden who captivates her town’s most eligible bachelor, Gaston (Richard White). Dissatisfied with life in her small French villa, Belle grows especially tired of the conceited and self-absorbed Gaston, who is unable to fathom the idea that Belle does not welcome his affections.

Meanwhile, The Beast lives in solitude in a long-ago abandoned castle, having had a spell cast upon him because of his inability to love. The spell turned the handsome prince into an ugly beast, and it turned all of his servants into dinnerware, candlesticks, and other inanimate objects. When Belle’s father, Maurice (Rex Everhart) makes a wrong turn, he inadvertently unites the lives of Belle and The Beast. After spending much time with Belle, the bitter and hardened Beast begins to soften. He and Belle fall in love, but Gaston and his fellow village marauders arrive at the castle walls and demand the return of Belle, threatening to kill The Beast…

The highlight of Beauty And The Beast is the musical number “Be Our Guest,” which features an entire dining hall filled with dancing teacups, plates, and eating utensils. The sequence forged the way for similar scenes in Aladdin (“A Whole New World”) and The Lion King (“Hakuna Matata”). Directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise not only create a perfect transition from song to story, but they also manage to introduce innumerable humorous lines into musical sequences, especially with the early song bandied about by the rival for Belle’s hand, Gaston.

One of the top films of all-time (that’s from any genre, not just animation), Beauty And The Beast remains one of Disney’s most heralded creations. It tells the classic love story of the beast with a good heart and does so with vivid characters, a world-class musical score, and animated visual images that would make Walt Disney proud. Critically acclaimed and extremely successful at the box office, Beauty And The Beast is a true blockbuster in the traditional sense of the word. An awe-inspiring film that launched a new generation of animated Disney masterpieces, Beauty And The Beast is the quintessential must-see film…

Myth Meditation Analysis – King Kong, Lord Of The Rings, Beauty and The Beast Indicating DID and MPD

The movie of King Kong is an elaborate allegory of spiritual evolution so we can understand the mythical quality of this story which also underlies the Lord of the Rings, the Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Cupid and Psyche and Sleeping Beauty.

We understand from King Kong what ancient symbols have been telling us of the hundred percent split nature of humanity and the necessity for purification, integration and going higher through meditation.

Ancient knowledge of Splitness, the universal split nature of humanity through DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) shown and proved by the 10,000 year old images of the split animal-human or ego-soul of the Centaur, Sphinx, Minotaur and Phoenix.

Or Anne Darrow-King Kong or Gollum-Frodo or Cupid-Psyche or Beauty-Beast or Sleeping Beauty-Prince or Cervantes Sancho Panza-Don Quixote and Frodo-Sam.

The Ancient Mythical quality is first announced in the 1933 version and the 2005 versions of King Kong by the Sufi Saying…

And the Prophet said, ‘And lo, the beast looked upon the face of beauty. And it stayed its hand from killing. And from that day, it was as one dead.’

King Kong is the ego, mirrored by Carl Denham the Director. Anne Darrow the beautiful, the beloved, is the Soul and her beau, Jack Driscoll, is God – someone she looks up to.

Symbolisms- Carl Denham-Ego, Anne Darrow-Soul, Jack Driscoll-God

Peter Jackson’s King Kong has many references to “Heart of Darkness”, such as a scene on the ship where Jimmy holds a copy of the book by Conrad, also the text behind Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now, and says “It’s not an adventure story, is it?”

KING KONG IS NOT JUST AN ADVENTURE STORY.

This sentiment is echoed by Hayes in a voiceover as he quotes Conrad, “The earth seemed unearthly… We are accustomed to look upon the shackled form of a conquered monster, but there, there you could look at a thing monstrous and free.”

As King Kong itself is a story of the egoistic cruelties of men and of King Kong himself, the film suggests that Conrad meant to explore human cruelty of the cruel ego towards others as much as he meant to explore the Belgian Congo – and thus also the film is more than an adventure story but also explores the human ego’s will and cruelty to exploit others.*

Carl Denham, the Big Kahuna Ego of the New York Jungle where he is at the top of a society filled with misery, poverty and hunger. He beats off the attack of his three tyrannosaurus Producers and escapes to Skull Island in search of an edge.

There King Kong falls in love with Anne Darrow and Anne Darrow, his soul, understands the necessity of being protected by the ego as King Kong protects her from the three tyrannosaurus rex’s-just as the Carl Denham-Mr Ego, had protected her in New York from the Burlesque, hunger, and the three producer tyrannosaurus rexes wanting to stop the picture she was going to star in.

Back in New York, King Kong makes the Carl Denham Ego number one, feted and admired by the Producers who originally had wanted to stop his picture and career.

Jack Driscoll says in an accusation made of Denham after he has captured Kong and put him on display like a circus freak – he so often “destroys the things he loves.” Which often happens with many poor films, “Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing!!” – Shakespeare, “Which everyone can see for twenty-five cents.” Carl Denham.

But which also echoes the love of Anne Darrow for that which protects her. Yet she must kill in order to ascend higher.

Jack Driscoll was quoting Oscar Wilde’s “Ballad of Reading Jail”…
“Yet each man kills the thing he loves,
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword! “

King Kong escapes with his Anne Darrow soul up the Empire state building which symbolizes the Rainbow Bridge, the pathway to heaven.

The Hindu’s have a name for this tower, “The Antahkarana” which is the psychic construction which ties all the chakras together as well as that which connects us above the head with the soul chakra and then with God.

With more spiritual energy, as we ascend to heaven, the selfish competitive ego drops away and our soul essence connects with God.

In deep love. With the energy of deep love which we the audience feel. Impregnated into the Movie, the energy of Love flows, and as Anne and King Kong lingeringly look at each other as he dies and falls into the corruption of New York city below.

As Anne rises to her feet, at the top of the highest skyscraper, she turns to find her lover, Jack Driscoll, who symbolises God, and who has come to take her higher. She no longer needs to descend into the mire. She can stay in heaven and live happily ever after.

This is the same story as Jackson’s Lord of the Rings. Half of Gollum’s split personality says, “We would not have survived if it had not been for me”. The other half says, “Now we have Master, (Frodo, the Master, represents the Soul) we do not need you any more, Go away and never come back!” Yet we have to wait for the end of the picture for Gollum to fall, taking with him the evil Ring, down into the crack of Doom, leaving the Frodo Soul much purified, ready to take the next step higher as he sails off with Gandalf (God) towards the Undying Lands (Heaven).

Down in the New York mire or Hell, Carl Denham looks at his ruin in the ruinous death of King Kong.

Police Officer Lieutenant: Well, Denham, the airplanes got him.
Denham: Oh, no. It wasn’t the airplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast.

And so we understand the mythical quality of the story which underlies the Lord of the Rings, the Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Cupid and Psyche and Sleeping Beauty.

We understand that ancient symbols have been telling us of the split nature of humanity and the necessity for purification and integration. Of going higher with the 10,000 year old images of the split animal-human or ego-soul of the Centaur, Sphinx, Minotaur and Phoenix. Or Anne Darrow-King Kong or Gollum-Frodo or Beauty-Beast or Cupid Psyche or Sleeping Beauty-Prince.

But let us not miss the point the meaning and significance of this history. The ancient stories and myths underlying King Kong, The Lord of the Rings, Apocalypse Now, Catch 22 and so many others point to a trauma disappointment formed splitness in the personalities of all humanity as being the cause of all evil on this planet for thousands of years.

They also teach of the Integrating techniques of Meditation, Energy Enhancement and the underlying techniques of the Kundalini Kriyas, The Five Element Circulations of the Qi or Chi or Kundalini Energy, the Alchemical Meditational Formulas or Guided Meditations of Hermes Trismegistus as a means of overcoming this trauma formed splitness which is the cause of Universal DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder).

Meditation and the higher techniques of Meditation are the cure of all splitness.

Over the years, Disney has produced many tales fit for children, such as The Lion King, Tarzan, and Mary Poppins on Broadway. These musicals have also made the grown ups re-live their childhood memories of these characters in comics and animations.

This lavish production, now showing at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater was adapted from Disney’s 1991 movie by the same name. Beauty and the Beast debuted on Broadway’s Palace Theater by previewing on March 9, 1994 and opening on April 18, 1994. More than five spectacular years later, the production moved to Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 12, 1999, and has been making waves there since then.

Currently, Beauty and the Beast is the 6th longest running musical in the history of Broadway, and has completed 5,176 performances on November 19, 2006. However, it is the third longest currently running musical on Broadway, after The Phantom of the Opera, and the recently revived Les Misérables.

Taking The Bow

This animated version of the Beauty and the Beast, with expanded script and new songs by Alan Menken and Tim Rice, was the first animated movie ever to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Nominated for nine categories of Tony Awards in 1994, Beauty and the Beast won in one category – Best Costume Design. In addition, it also won the 1994 Theatre World Award.

The Enchanted Story

This is the story of the Beast, who is actually a prince under a spell of an enchantress . . . and this is the story of Beauty, a young beautiful woman named Belle, who agrees to become the Beast’s prisoner forever – in exchange for her father’s life. After Beauty begins to stay at the enchanted castle, the Beast falls in love with her, and as time goes by, becomes less ‘beastly.’

To break the spell cast by the enchantress, Beauty must return the love of the Beast. If not, the prince is doomed to remain a Beast through all eternity.

Unleashing the Beast – Or the Zebra Within! Simple Nail Designs

People seem to have an obsession with animal prints. Nothing is off limits including leopard print dresses, crocodile skin boots and soft, tiger blankets. It is no wonder that women love animal prints on their nails, too! Women love simple nail designs, especially the French nail manicure. The French nail manicure can get boring at times, so it is time to spice it up a bit with some animal influence. Simple Nail Designs with Zebra Tips Zebra prints are simple nail designs that add a bit of mystery (and innovation) to your nails. There are various ways to achieve a French nail manicure. You can go to the salon, apply white sticker tips, use white polish or use white art pens. The only additional item you will need for the zebra simple nail design is a black art brush. To achieve the zebra affect, apply random black lines to your French manicure. These lines should only be applied to the tips of your nails. Start at the left side of your nail and draw a horizontal line towards the middle of your nail. This horizontal line should not be straight. It should have a slight blend to it in order to give the illusion of movement. Also, notice that the black lines start off thick and then taper off. Starting at the left side of your nail again, draw another line and extend it towards the middle of your nail. Repeat this process on the right side. The zebra lines that start on the right side of the nail should not be painted at the same level as the black stripes on the left side. In other words, they should be drawn in between the black stripes on the left side. If you are nervous about drawing the lines, practice on a piece of paper first. Each nail should have a total of four black stripes. Of course, you can always change the amount of lines per nail in order to make your simple nail designs more interesting. What you end up with are simple nail designs that only require you to touch up your French nail manicure. As always, follow-up with a clear topcoat of nail polish.

Looking your best can add a boost of confidence. It is a whole lot of fun, too! For more beauty tips, check out Simple Nail Designs, where you can learn how to do a French Nail Manicure.
